The Highways Maintenance Efficiency Programme (HMEP) is launching updated asset management guidance.
Asset management is widely accepted as a means to deliver a more efficient and effective approach to the maintenance of highway assets through longer term planning.
To help local highway authorities make the most of the limited funding available in these austere times, HMEP will be launching updated guidance that will help authorities interpret the requirements of asset management and share good practice.
The guidance is aimed at all involved in the management of highways infrastructure, including senior decision makers, asset managers and practitioners. It will support all local authorities, from those who have made good progress with implementing asset management to those who are still at an early stage of adoption.
