Highways leaders back Seeing is Believing

The heads of highways authorities in England, Scotland and Wales have described next month’s Seeing is Believing as a “must visit” event for the industry.

The Highways Agency said: “Seeing is Believing is an important event for everyone involved in the highways industry, from design through construction to operating the vitally important roads network.

“Everyone must be aware of and understand the innovative products, technology and methodologies that maximise safety and free-flowing traffic on motorways and roads, within the restrictions of carefully controlled budgets.

“The Highways Agency wholeheartedly supports the aims of Seeing is Believing in helping to achieve that.”

Russell Bennett, Head of Infrastructure Projects for the Welsh Assembly Government, said: “Interactive events such as Seeing is Believing 2012 give a rare opportunity for industry professionals to see products in action.

“With increasing demands to reduce cost and increase value plus keeping up to date with the latest technology, this event is more important than ever before.”

Graham Edmond, Head of Network Maintenance & Trunk Roads at Transport Scotland said: “At a time when financial pressures and fast-paced developments in technology present ever more challenges, events like “Seeing is Believing” provide the ideal way to network and learn from experts and suppliers which will help all of us involved in road design, maintenance and operations meet these challenges head on.”

The free, three-day event at Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire on November 20,21,and 22 is also being supported by the Institute of Highways Engineers, which is proving a full day Continuous Professional Development certificate for every person attending.

Organiser Neil Levett said: “With industry-wide support for this event, attendance by leading manufacturers, suppliers and operators, daylight, dusk and night time live, practical demonstrations, and a series of workshops running throughout the three days, Seeing is Believing is one of the most important events of 2012.”
