Karen Cassar has joined Capita Local Government and will be responsible for leading on highways asset management.
In her new role as technical director of asset management within Capita’s local government business, Cassar will focus on building on the firm’s use of asset management principles in its highway improvement partnerships with local authorities around the country.
Cassar joins Capita from Lancashire County Council where she worked as highways and traffic manager before being promoted to become highways asset manager for the authority.
She said: “This is a very exciting time to be joining Capita, which already has a strong reputation for delivering effective highways improvement programmes using asset management principles and practices.
“I aim to build on that reputation by strengthening strategic decision-making and applying more long-term planning to these partnerships, helping to create successful highways management and improvement schemes which work effectively for the communities they serve.”
Jonathan Prew, executive director for Capita Local Government, added: “Karen has outstanding experience in delivering effective highways asset management in the local government sector, and is one of the leading experts in her field.”
