Bath bids for £34.3m transport funding

Bath & North East Somerset Council will make a final bid to the Government for a £34.3m scheme to tackle the city’s traffic problems.

The Bath Transportation Package has been substantially re-engineered to reduce costs from the original £58.8m.

Proposed work includes the extensive installation of variable message signs.

Councillor Roger Symonds, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “We are clear that better bus routes, expanded Park and Ride sites, and improved traffic information for drivers all form part of improving our transport system and support the infrastructure needed for new businesses and new jobs for local people.”
