Tarmac has been awarded a two-year extension on its highways maintenance contract with Nottinghamshire County Council.
The company originally secured the contract in April 2013 for an initial period of five years, with the possibility of three further extensions to March 2023. The contract is worth £12 million a year.
Following successful delivery of a number of significant projects, Tarmac has been awarded the first extension, to April 2020. This will see the business deliver the range of highways maintenance works, including road resurfacing, gully cleaning, street lighting, road marking and earthworks.
Since 2013, the partnership between Tarmac and the County Council has delivered over £2 million in annual cost savings.
