Leading civil engineering and building specialists North Midland Construction (NMC) has won a place on the £150 million South East Wales highways and civil engineering contractors framework.
The highways and utilities division of NMC has secured a place on the framework that could be worth up to £20m over four years. NMC will be invited to tender for all schemes between £2m and £5m across South East Wales, including major junction improvements, road widening and safety schemes.
Geoff Poyzer, director of highways and utilities at NMC, said: “We’re delighted to have been appointed as one of the select contractors on this important contract. We have been concentrating effort on securing work on frameworks as they deliver guaranteed work year on year and we have been expanding our work in this region and across the UK in recent years delivering a range of highway and public realm schemes. We’re looking forward to working with the various framework clients to deliver innovative, best value schemes over the next four years.”
To deliver the framework NMC will be establishing a regional hub for the contract from their existing regional office in Bristol and recruiting additional local staff to support the schemes as work volume requires.
While just six contractors will be used to deliver schemes up to £5m, NMC is one of more than 20 firms to have secured places on the framework as a whole, which includes a range of other works including resurfacing and maintenance packages.
