Highways Magazine has been published since 1934 and has been owned more recently by Alad Ltd who acquired the title in August 1995.
Published 10 times per year the magazine enjoys exclusive partnerships with a number of industry partners including the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE), Highways Agency, Transport Scotland, Welsh Assembly Government, TRL (Transport Research Laboratory) and NI Roads Service – who all contribute editorial to the magazine.
Highways is distributed to an ABC-audited circulation of 7,241 copies per month, through conventional post and digital distribution.
Digital communication is increasingly popular in the highways sector as the weekly news digest Highways on Fridays attests… In excess of 12,500 people have subscribed to the service with a regular average open rate of 23% per week.
The Highways Magazine Excellence Awards, which were launched in 2005, now boast huge recognition for the recipients with their 100% independent judging process, ensuring integrity and authenticity to the winners of the categories.
Seeing is Believing was added to the stable in 2010, to provide an alternative to traditional sterile exhibitions where attendees and exhibitors struggled to demonstrate and visualise how a product/service might work. Seeing is Believing offers a unique opportunity to demonstrate products and services outside on real road environments – urban, rural and motorway – with day, dusk and night time conditions.
More recently, to reflect the increased influence of traffic management and control on the UK road network(s), Smart Highways was launched to wide acclaim, aimed at bridging the gap between technology suppliers and the UK road and traffic managers.
