Kier has taken on 200 new colleagues under TUPE transfer following the start of its latest contract with Highways England, while a further jobs will be created.
It’s taken over Highways England’s two-year asset support contract in Areas 6 and 8 from Amey, covering the East of England, Essex and East Anglia, with staff being transferred over under TUPE rules.
Kier has also created 50 new jobs for the contract across a range of roles including technical trades, commercial, quality, health and safety and administration.
Dave Wright, Kier Highways executive director said, “The enthusiasm of those joining the team was fantastic to see and we’re looking forward to further developing our collaborative approach with our new colleagues and supply chain as we support Highways England in its new approach to service delivery.”
Kier Highways will operate from three main offices to deliver the new contracts, based in Bedford and Ipswich as well as from Kier’s regional headquarters in Cambridge.
The new staff members join 3,000 people currently employed across Kier’s strategic and local authority contracts.
