Readers of Highways can get a 35% discount off the cost of attending the Highways Skills event at the London Transport Museum on September 29.
The National Highways Academy and Highways Magazine are jointly presenting the one-day event, which is titled ‘Delivering a workforce fit for the future’.
The event ties in to the launch of the new Highways Recruit service, which brings together key stakeholders within the industry sector to assess, strategise and collaborate on maximizing skills for the future workforce.
Highways England divisional director Russell Wallis is a key note speaker at the conference, which is aimed at operational directors and managers, local and network contractors, skills providers, local authority heads of highways, senior directors, managers and engineers and heads of HR and recruiters.
“It is an exciting time to be in the roads sector and there is a lot of emphasis being placed on delivering the government’s £15 billion Roads Investment Strategy so that we have a safe, serviceable, free-flowing network that contributes to economic growth across the UK,” says Mr Wallis.
“Growing talent for our sector will play a vital part in shaping the future. For us to be in the best position to deliver this huge amount of work we and the supply chain need to attract and retain the skills required to build a diverse workforce.”
